PLANS for a 14.7 metre-high mobile phone mast at Chances Pitch, Colwall, have been approved.
At a meeting on Friday, Herefordshire Council's planning committee ruled the T-Mobile mast could be built next to the A449. Colwall Parish Council and Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty planning group opposed the scheme.
Both said they would prefer to see the mobile phone equipment sited on electricity pylons.
But councillors ruled the mast could go ahead subject to conditions, including that T-Mobile provides details of the colour of the mast and equipment and further information about which trees at the site would be retained and removed.
