AN elderly man was bitten by a dog and had liquid thrown in his eyes when his Jubilee Drive home was burgled on Saturday.

A pair of men, one of them holding an Alsatian-type dog, knocked at the elderly victim's door between 3pm and 4pm.

They verbally abused him before entering the house and, when the victim tried to push them out, the dog bit him.

The men demanded cash, which the victim gave them, and they also took his wallet.

As they left, the attackers sprayed an unknown fluid into the victim's eyes before driving away in a vehicle which may have been a light brown car.

The elderly man was treated at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and later released.

Police spokesman Neil Tipton said: "This is a particularly nasty crime, especially as it involves an elderly and vulnerable person who required hospital treatment afterwards."

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack.

The two men are both described as white and around six feet tall. One was around 45 years old, while the other was 25.

Anyone with information on the incident should call PC Pete Bradbury at Hereford Police Station on 08457 444888.
