STROLLERS won their final game of the season by a huge margin of 228 runs away at Hereford City Sports Club.

Invited to bat, the visitors made the most of the conditions to pile on 290 runs from their 45 overs.

A steady start gave Strollers 74 runs for the first two wickets from 22 overs, when Martin Skirrow fell two runs short of his second half- century of the season.

A blistering second half of the innings brought another 216 runs without the loss of a wicket. Mark Powell led the charge with an unbeaten 140, which included 18 4s and six 6s. He was well supported by Rob Bentley-Taylor, who grabbed his second half-century of the season to finish with 69no (seven 4s).

The HCSC reply got off to the worst possible start when opener Salt was bowled by Simon Albright from the second ball of the innings.

As the wickets continued to tumble, it was Chris John who profited most, finishing with personal best bowling figures of 5-28 from his eight overs.

Only Tony Pennicooke offered any resistance for the home side with 14, but Mark Powell returned with the ball to close the innings as dark clouds loomed overhead.
