Bosbury couple Brian and Liz Clutterbuck have completed a 1,000-mile journey in a Morgan three-wheeler vintage sports car, which included a visit to Ledbury's twin town of Stromstad.

The couple took their 1930 motor by trailer to Newcastle, where they caught the ferry to Christiansand in Norway for the start of their touring holiday.

Mr Clutterbuck said of Scandinavia's rural roads: "It was very noticeable, the lack of traffic and the lack of people."

One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to the famous Telemark area of Norway, where a series of daring commando raids crippled Hitler's attempts to make an atomic bomb.

The tour was partly a link-up with other members of the Morgan Three-Wheeler Club, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.

But the Clutterbucks decided not to miss the opportunity of visiting Stromstad in Sweden and making themselves known.

They were even photographed with their three-wheeler for the local Stromstad newspaper, which comes out three times a week.

Mr Clutterbuck said: "Stromstad is a lovely place but it has nothing else in common with Ledbury, being on the seaside.

"We were there for two days and the weather was absolutely fantastic."

During that time, the Clutterbuck's called in at the Stromstad Council offices, to let officials know that visitors from the Ledbury area were back in town.

They also took a boat trip out to see the island of North and South Koster.

But the couple were amazed at the high cost of living, including the price of beer, which comes in at £7.50 for less than a pint.

"They just don't drink," said Mr Clutterbuck, a former Bosbury parish councillor.

The Clutterbucks are no strangers to long distances in their sports car.

Last year, they accomplished a 1,600-mile trip to Switzerland.
