Members of Hereford Stroke Club have been saddened by the death of one of its founder members, the late John Grady, better known as Jack.

Many went to his funeral following his death at the age of 92 at the County Hospital, earlier in August,

He helped form the club in 1979 the year after his wife Winifred suffered a stroke and even after her death he stayed on, a keen member, helping in any way he could.

It was only towards the very end of his life that he suffered strokes himself, curtailing his club activities.

''But he was able to help the club celebrate its 25th anniversary last year, ceremonially cutting the anniversary cake,'' said secretary Sue Rennie.

He would be sadly missed, she added.

There was no doubt Mr Grady enjoyed a full life, game to the end.

He loved to travel and until his 90th birthday flew regularly to Italy to stay with one of his daughters and shortly before had paid a visit to the war graves in France.
