Ross Town 3
Malmesbury Victoria 2
A BIZARRE late goal from Andy Sherlock clinched a first GLS Hellenic League Division 1 South win for Ross.
A defender tried to clear a Simon Gwilliam cross but his attempted clearance hit Sherlock's back and bounced into the net.
Gwilliam had opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a superb 40-yard lob which caught the Malmesbury goalkeeper off his line.
But, in spite of continuing Ross dominance, Malmesbury levelled when some sloppy defensive play let in a striker to score from close range.
Ross once again had much the better of play at the start of the second period and their pressure finally paid off after 65 minutes when Glenn Capewell headed in a Gwilliam corner.
Goalkeeper Tom Whittaker produced a superb save to keep Ross ahead but Malmesbury beat the home side's offside trap to level shortly afterwards.
Ross continued to press forward and were finally rewarded for their hard work by Sherlock's deserved, if fortunate, goal.
