Kington Town 1

Pelsall Villa 4

MISTAKES in defence cost the Kington youngsters dearly as fellow strugglers Pelsall took full advantage to push their hosts down to bottom place in a very competitive West Midlands League Premier Division match.

Although Kington shaded the early possession they went behind after 15 minutes when a missed header on the edge of the box found the visiting striker with the ball at his feet and only goalkeeper Simon Hamer to beat. He did this well and minutes later repeated the exercise when he punished another mistake at the back.

With their tails up, Pelsall went three up just after the restart with a well-taken goal before Kington reduced arrears when David Griffiths made a good run down the right flank before crossing for Joe Mayglothling to finish with a crisp half-volley.

Although Kington's young team did not drop their heads Pelsall made sure of victory when their striker completed a hat-trick with a fierce strike, direct free-kick.

Despite an indifferent start to the season Kington's player-manager Adriano Girolami remains confident that his youngsters will develop into a good side.

Bewdley Town 1 Bromyard Town 1

ALTHOUGH doing enough to claim victory, a depleted Bromyard had to settle for a point in this excellent Premier Division clash at Bewdley.

Bromyard dominated the first period with Andy Crowther's driving runs down the flanks causing the newly-promoted Bewdley defence all sorts of problems. In spite of creating a lot of half-chances the visitors could not convert and the teams changed ends with a blank scoresheet.

Injuries to Gareth McCarthy and Dan Williams meant that Bromyard started the second half with a rearranged formation. Tireless running by their forwards, with Crowther, Tony McLean, and 17-year-old Craig Malins to the fore, kept the visitors in control and they deservedly took the lead in the 74th minute when Malins finished off a sweeping move with a crisp 15-yard drive.

Bewdley did not stop trying and claimed a share of the points with a well-executed set piece which saw Jan Mulders head home from close range.

The visitors pushed up in search of the winner but were denied by a determined home defence.

Gornal Athletic 4 Wellington 0

EARLY-season pacemakers Gornal proved too strong for Wellington, who have now lost both of their away matches despite winning all three of their home fixtures.

Gornal made a good start with a goal after five minutes and went on to dominate the first 20 minutes.

But Wellington re-grouped and had much the better of the play in the lead-up to the interval and at the start of the second period.

The game's decisive moment came when Kenny Styles missed a great chance to level the scores and Gornal broke straight to the other end to extend the lead.

Wellington, with skipper Mark Fish missing through injury, lost their way after this and conceded two more in the closing stages.

Callum Martin scored twice for the home side with Ashley Pountney and Lee Wherton adding the others.

Wellington 1

Ledbury Town 0

IN a midweek match between two evenly-matched sides, Andy Price's strike 15 minutes from time proved decisive.

Neither side had been able to make a break through as defences dominated but in the 75th minute, a cross reached Price 22 yards out and the central midfielder volleyed home.

Tenbury United 4 Hinton 5

HINTON got back to winning ways with two victories in five days after losing their first two games in this season's Division 1 campaign.

Tenbury took a fourth minute lead through George Pearson, but Hinton recovered well and hit back with three goals before the break.

Ross Semple bagged the first when he nodded a bouncing cross over the advancing keeper.

A glancing header from Simon Gwynne gave Hinton the lead and a fine run from Jody Dawe set up a volley for midfielder Danny Johns.

A clash between the home goalkeeper and Ross Semple meant an extended interval of 40 minutes until an ambulance took the home keeper to hospital with what turned out to be a badly dislocated shoulder.

In a somewhat flat second half a deflection by Hinton's Phil Beavan saw Tenbury close the gap, but a penalty from Dawe and a fierce cross-shot from Ross Semple restored Hinton's three-goal cushion.

Sloppy defending by Hinton let in two soft goals but they held on to claim the winning points.

Hinton 3

Malvern Rangers 0

PREVIOUSLY Hinton recovered their form to give an outstanding team performance to record their first league win of the season at Broomy Hill.

Jody Dawe opened the scoring, with further goals coming from Danny Johns and a Phil Glover header from Phil Beavan's cross.
