MOTHER and daughter Mandy and Emma Reddock from Monkland scored a significant victory at the annual British Driving Society Championship Show at Burleigh by winning the inaugural Exercise Vehicle Class, one of the most important BDS classes of the season.
Driving Moss Hill Ben James, an eight-year-old 14.2hh Welsh cob, this was a major coup for the Reddock family as Ben was originally rescued from a local horse sale in a poor emaciated state fit only for the knacker's yard.
Ben was since bought early in the year and has enjoyed great success with 14-year-old Emma at Pony Club, local shows and hunter trials.
Their first major sign of success in harness was at the Hereford & District Driving Group Spring Carriage Show where they swept the board and qualified for the Osborne Refrigerators BDS National Championships at Burleigh.
They then went on to win many classes through this summer season, including the Three Counties Show and Supreme Champion at Brecon County Show.
