WHITECROSS Men completed their most successful season in 10 years, with both the A and B teams securing promotion in the Herefordshire & Worcestershitre LTA Summer Leagues.

Chairman Matthew White said: "We are very pleased to have achieved this major step in the re-building of competitive tennis at the club."

By finishing above Ledbury, Mathon and two Madley teams in Division 4 West, the A are promoted for the second successive season and will play against mainly Worcestershire teams in Division 3 next summer.

The men's B team, captained by Richard Rogers, were unbeaten in Division 7, and will be hot favourites to go up again next season.

Players making significant contributions to the success this summer were Matthew White, Richard Rogers, Alex Lane and Byron Wallin.

There were other appearances in the teams by Martin Sockett, Miles Price, Kevin Hawthorn, Andrew Griffiths, Mike Powell and Dave Knipe.

Overall though, the success would not have been possible without solid performances from up-and-coming juniors Haz Probert, Luke Chiswell, and Jeremy Knight.
