Coalville 1 Westfields 0

WESTFIELDS are still searching for their first Midland Alliance away win after returning empty-handed from their 200-mile round trip to Leicestershire.

The city side defended well but struggled in attack where the twin strike-force of Paul Burton and Mark Davis was well held by the home defence.

Westfields' best chance came on 25 minutes when Matt Aubrey cut in from the right and let fly with a powerful shot which Sean Bowles did well to save.

At the other end, Coalville were also able to make little impact with Wayne Hoskins and the returning Dave Howes in good form.

Defences continued to be on top after the break but the home side made the decisive breakthrough midway through the second period.

Martin Fox received a short corner and chipped the ball into the Westfields penalty area where Richard Walker stooped to head home from eight yards.

Burton and Davis both went close as Westfields tried to respond but not even the introduction of substitutes Carl Preece and Paul Jones was able to inspire them to equalise as the city side slipped to their third league defeat.
