WELL done to the Bishop of Hereford, for his line on terrorism and the recent London Bombings.

I was delighted to read what I have felt for a long time, in the article about religion and terrorism, (Hereford Times, September 1).

The Bishop made the point that these young extremists who are blowing themselves up, in order to get to heaven, are not acting in a way that God would have wanted, and the Bishop went on to emphasise the benefit of good religion.

I agree with him wholeheartedly and was delighted our Bishop had taken a lead on this issue - head on. We need to be proud of our own culture if we are to persuade new immigrants to respect it and join us in the multicultural society we talk about but rarely see.

In Herefordshire we don't have the same sort of problems I see when I am in London and, if all our churches were more forthright in their approach, I think it would be harder for these extremists as they would realise that our society, religion and faith are too strong to be changed by bombing.

Well done, and let us have plenty more sound words to remind us that Christianity is not only tolerant but worth being proud of.
