Hereford city centre is to get an arty new look with the installation of a 20ft sculpture outside All Saints' Church.
The sail inspired piece, made of steel, and designed by Hereford blacksmith student Adam Greenwell was given the go-ahead at a Herefordshire Council planning meeting last week.
The city council had objected to the piece saying it was a "wholly inappropriate development in such a historic and important location".
Planning officers recommended approval and said the design was "complimentary to the townscape".
