VILLAGE FETE - Yarpole Village Fete will be held on Saturday, June 19, opening at 1pm. The fete will be bigger and better than ever and caters especially for children. A sausage barbecue will provide lunch, afternoon tea and home-baked cakes will be available in the tea room, a bar will serve drinks throughout the day and, from 6pm, fresh venison burgers and drinks will be served to live music. A super selection of sports, mainly for children, will be held alongside the stalls area. Grown-up fun includes such events as cake baking and fridge door poetry, and cheap books old and new. Raffle prizes include Oaker Wood Leisure adventure activities, a fine hamper, a large joint of beef, Croft Castle family ticket and a top grade folding bicycle and tickets are available from the village shop and at the fete gate. Music will be provided by Knighton Silver Band and supplemented by a Dutch-type street organ in the sports field. Entry is £1 and school children and ample parking are free.
