CHURCH FETE - Residents and friends were relieved to see the sun come out to greet the opening of the annual church fete. It was opened by Robert Hughes, headteacher at the primary school from 1982 to 1996. Mr Hughes and his wife Pauline now live in Aberystwyth but frequently return to the village in which they spent many happy years. There were lots of visitors and buyers for the second-hand books, cake, bric-a-brac and plants. After the opening the children’s fancy dress was judged, a very difficult job as the costumes were outstanding. Adults and children tried their hand at quoits and ‘splat the rat’. Children had faces painted, while others enjoyed tea and cakes.
