FETE - Yarpole village fete on June 19, was a terrific success. It was opened by ward Councillor Sebastian Bowen, whose good humoured occasional commentary entertained everyone throughout the afternoon. Despite threats of looming disasters such as the loss of the car park and sports field, thanks to the energy and imagination of the fete’s organising committee and the generosity of the fete site hosts, David and Cordelia Niblett, in the event all ran more-or-less to plan. There were inflated sumo wrestling suits, miniature Shetland ponies, a slippery pole and Mini-cramming, crafts, art and hobbies stalls plus a barbecue and afternoon tea. Musical entertainment was provided by Knighton Silver band.
The evening’s entertainment by local musicians was accompanied by venison burgers and drinks from the bar.
All proceeds go to Yarpole parish church and the parish community fund.
