CHURCHYARD RESCUE - The Churchyard Task Team came to the rescue of Llanwarne churchyard last weekend, repairing a section of the boundary wall which had fallen into a neighbour’s garden during the winter.
Caring for God’s Acre organised a weekend training course in the ancient art of lime mortaring and volunteers from Herefordshire and Shropshire came together with professional craftsman Keith Jones, from Bishop’s Castle. The Churchyard Task Team, funded by Heritage Lottery, brings together professional instructors, volunteers and local people to learn conservation skills and help to maintain historic churchyards for the future.
Volunteers from the area local to the churchyard where we are working are particularly welcome, along with individuals of all ages and abilities. So if you are young or old, unemployed, retired, work part-time, recovering from illness, male or female, and in need of gentle exercise doing a very worthwhile job for nature and heritage conservation, get in touch to find out more.
