VILLAGE WALK AND DUCK RACE - The annual village walk and duck race will take place on Saturday. Meet at the village hall car park at 2pm for a walk over the hills then back to the village hall for a ploughman’s supper for which a small charge is made. Following supper the annual duck race will take place on the village brook. The event has been taking place for about ten years and is one of the village highlights of the year. Everyone is i nvited to buy a ticket and cheer on their duck as it bobs along the brook.
Keeping order and ensuring there’s no foul play are Pearl Littleworth, treasurer of the village hall committee, and chairman Viv Lloyd,. Prizes range from £30 down to £10 for first, second, third and fourth ducks home with other smaller prizes plus a special prize for the owner of the last duck home. Money raised from the day will go into the village hall fund. Further information on a 'quacking' family day out can be obtained from Viv Lloyd on 01544 370636.
