PARISH COUNCIL - Councillors heard that consideration of Herefordshire Council’s local development framework (LDF) has been put back a number of months. There will be a community poll in June this year, followed by further consultation between July and October, before the LDF is considered by the overview and scrutiny committee and cabinet, then submitted to the full council for approval in February 2012. A local action group will be using the services of a professional to “counter the misinformation publicised by senior Herefordshire Council leaders”
in the press. They say everyone is concerned about the continuing traffic problems in and around Hereford, but that Herefordshire Council’s plan to build a minimum of 8.500 additional homes in Hereford to secure developers’ funding, is not the answer and would not address local needs.
There are elections in May this year, but Pat Churchward and Bryan Walker are stepping down after many years of committed and generous service. However, both will still be involved in other village groups and organisations.
If anyone is looking to join Breinton Parish Council, contact Herefordshire Council or the parish clerk for a nomination pack.
Nominations must be completed and returned to the electoral services office by noon on April 4. If there are more than six candidates for seats on the parish council then there will be an election on May 5.
The parish council has been working closely with the National Trust to address some of the problems that have arisen at Breinton Springs over the last few months. The trust is organising several events, the next being bird box making on April 27, noon to 4pm.
