LENTEN TREE - Gladestry Church in Wales Primary School has put a different emphasis on the Lenten tradition of giving something up. Instead, they have determined to give something for Lent. An African idea, the pupils made a huge paper tree and displayed it in the entrance hall. Cards picked out and stuck to the tree signify a small but positive task for them to do, for instance helping mum and dad at home or putting special effort into homework. A Lenten tree is something children in Ghana make during Lent, just before Easter.
CROSS COUNTRY SUCCESS - A team of nineyear- old cross country runners from Gladestry Church in Wales Primary School has done exceptionally well. Competing against Radnor Valley School, Megan was overall first of years three and four girls and Ewan gained second place in years three and four boys.
GREEN FLAG AWARD - Gladestry Church in Wales Primary School has been awarded its third Green Flag Award in the Eco-Schools Assessment sponsored by Keep Wales Tidy.
