WHEN owner of independent local shop and post office, Hopes of Longtown, decided to do something different to celebrate Herefordshire Food Week she was surprised to find exactly what was just on her doorstep in or near to the village.
News of Christine Hope's Little Taste of Herefordshire event attracted the interest of Liz Knight from Forage Fine Foods and Alice Mitchell from Poachers Pantry and the three set about putting on a tasting event recently supported by local Herefordshire flower grower and florist, Amber Sullivan.
Nestling at the foot of the Black Mountains, a stones-throw from the Welsh border, the village of Longtown in Herefordshire, is located between Hereford, Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye.
“There has been a village shop and post office of sorts in Longtown for longer than anyone can remember. We’ve been running Hopes of Longtown for getting on for 10 years” said Christine Hope. “It’s the hub of any local community and we are always looking for new suppliers of local produce. Our Little Taste of Herefordshire event was a great success.”
