THE article by Bill Tanner (Hereford Times, August 4) regarding Hereford Rugby Club’s plans was very one-sided, outlining all the benefits without giving any mention at all to the negative impacts of the proposal.
Your article gives the impression that there is opposition to the Rugby Club development by the villagers of Hampton Bishop. That is not the case .
The “pockets of opposition” are not objecting in principle to the sports facility but to the building of 190 houses because of the adverse impact these houses will have, namely 190 houses causing increased traffic, increased demands on local schools and potentially increased flooding in an already prone area.
None of these factors were mentioned in the article.
There may be no immediate cost to the public purse but the intangible as well as tangible knock-on effects must also be taken into consideration.
Surely your writer has a duty to give a balanced view of the situation to the public. This was blatantly not the case.
It would be appreciated if these factors could also be made better known.
RALPH KEME,
Rectory Road, Hampton Bishop.
