HISTORICAL SOCIETY - Longtown and District Historical Society is 40 years old this season. On Saturday at 2pm in the village hall Peter Morgan Jones will speak on "Hills of Iron and Fire". This will be followed by tea.
CAR BOOT SALE - A boot sale will take place on Sunday at 2pm on Longtown field by the village hall. £5 per.car. Free entrance and refreshments in the hall.
PLOUGHING MATCH - Escleyside Ploughing Match takes place on Sunday at Monnington Court, Vowchurch. Entries welcome on the day before 11.30am. A dozen sheep classes to choose from, classes for samples of root crops,corn,meadow and seed hay and the best square foot of sward. Domestic classes include cooked items, preserves,country crafts and floral art. there are also classes for children. Domestic schedules available at local schools,shops or by e.mail from dukesfarm@supanet.com.
BIGGEST COFFEE MORNING - The World's Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer support will take place at Ty mawr, Clodock on Friday, September 30, at 10am - 12noon. There will also be cakes and produce for sale and a raffle. Everyone is most welcome.
The King's Arms, Michaelchurch will hold a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer on Friday 30th September from 10.30am to 12.30pm. There will be a bring and buy table,cakes for sale and a raffle.
TAIZE PRAYER - Taize Prayer will take place on Friday, September 30, at 8pm in Dore Abbey. Do come and join us for this quiet time of prayer and reflection in this beautiful building.
