VILLAGE HALL - A very successful solar day was held at Clehonger Village Hall on October 15, as part of hEnergy week. The event was organised jointly with Southern Solar, who installed the now up and running solar panels on the hall roof, and was a great celebration of the success of this project. It was also an opportunity to thank in person Coun Sebastian Bowen from Severn Waste Fund, which made a substantial contribution to the funding, and all others in the village community who had made this possible, including support from the parish council. The event was planned to offer something for everyone. Some went away having learned about sustainable energy and architecture from the speakers, Jonathan Hines, from Architype, and Richard Priesley, local evening class lecturer on Sustainability. Children enjoyed solar Scalextrix, face painting, badge making, learning about local birdlife, and competitions, and everyone enjoyed browsing the stalls and relaxing with tea and cakes. For much of the time the sun even shone, ticking up the clock on providing cheaper electricity for the hall, which will benefit the whole community for many years.
