LENT LUNCH - This will be at the village hall on March 12 from noon. Everyone welcome.
BETTY’S DOLL - The competition to guess the name of an attractive ornamental doll (Rita) made by Betty Johnson was won by Joanna Crawshaw. £72 was raised for St Mary’s Church maintenance fund with a further £71 raised by Betty through the sale of furry toys she made for the Christmas fair.
SHORT MAT BOWLS - An excellent meal at the Ox Inn, Painscastle and a friendly game of triples with the Painscastle bowlers, took place in January. The Gladestry group will meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month for the foreseeable future, at the village hall, 7.30pm. Call Michael Johnson on 01544 370296 for details.
DIAMOND JUBILEE - If anyone has photographs dating from 1952 to the present day which could be loaned for a photographic exhibition celebrating the Queen’s diamond jubilee, please contact John Cook on 01544 370366. The exhibition will be part of the village celebrations on June 4 and the photographs could be anything to do with Gladestry and district events, family celebrations etc.
WI - St David’s Day celebrations are on February 28, at 7.30pm, in the village hall with an evening of poetry reading, Welsh music and traditional refreshments.
Admission £2. Everyone welcome.
ZUMBA - On March 20 at 7.30pm in the village hall, have fun with Zumba dance exercise.
