SUSTAINABLE IDEAS - Breinton Village Hall was full for the meeting on the communityled plan. Many of the ideas put forward concerned the environment and sustainability in Breinton. We now know that there is already a group of house-holds bulk purchasing fuel oil in the parish but interest in setting up a similar group to buy LPG in bulk. There is interest in sharing spare garden space so that others can grow fruit and vegetables.
There are houses with heat pumps, solar panels and exterior insulated cladding in Breinton from which we can all learn.
If you have more ideas or want to learn more, contact the volunteers listed at the end. Painting Breinton Green is working on behalf of the parish council and has developed a series of events and visits to places of local interest, all with a sustainable theme. The first is a visit to Hereford Crematorium at 6.30pm on March 15. There are 20 places – call Anita Sancha to book.
The second date for your diary is March 24, when local experts will be in Breinton Village Hall from 10am-noon to answer questions and talk about how to save resources and money. These events are open to everyone, to raise interest in what is happening locally, to encourage even more community feeling and to increase knowledge about sustainability.
Volunteers are Tony and Nicky Geeson on 01432 279713 or tnchgeeson@ btinternet.com, Anita Sancha on 272169 (anita@anitasancha.co.uk) and Brain Lunt at brian.lunt@phonecoop.coop.
