COUNCIL - Clive Hall of Herefordshire Council told Breinton Parish Council that pothole repairs are prioritised, not necessarily according to the size of the hole, but more on the deemed hazard and risk to the public.

Whilst he agreed that major resurfacing works are serious (there are five locations in Breinton identified as such), these repairs are likely to take much longer because of the amount of money available to fund these works. The inevitable delay will mean further deterioration in the condition of the roads. Mr Hall said a reduction in the speed limit would not necessarily reduce the wear of the roads, though the size of some vehicles travelling along the lanes inevitably has an impact and erodes the surface at the edges of the roads.

Councillors considering how to co-opt to fill the casual vacancy agreed to request letters of interest from anyone wanting to become a parish councillor, and at the meeting on May 23, provide the opportunity to each candidate to say a few words, before responding to a few questions. A secret ballot of councillors will then decide which candidate is co-opted.
