VILLAGE LOTTERY - Winning £25 this week was John Pinches with number 19.
TELEGRAPH POLE - A contractor working for BT replaced a telegraph pole with a rotting base near to Springfield. The next pole down the field which leans at an alarming angle will not be touched, the contractor says.
Each pole lasts 50 years on average.
WEATHER - The local meteorological station recorded mid-afternoon temperatures rising from more than 17C on March 25 to over 20C on March 28 and 29. No rain was recorded but temperatures were below freezing in the mornings.
JUBILEE - At the last planning meeting a card was signed to send to the Queen to convey the greetings of the people of the Bishopstone group of parishes on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee. The card featured photos of the five churches in the group with their lovely spring flowers. The photos were taken in February, the same month in which the Queen came to the throne in 1952.
