THE weather was against the 100 ploughmen who took part in the 63rd annual match of Trumpet and District Agricultural Society last Thursday at Veldt House, Preston Cross.
Yet the eight teams of horse ploughing and 98 tractors, kept spectators enthralled and there were 400 entries in the domestic section.
Show secretary Jean Eversham said: "It was very wet but we had a good day."
Successful in the ploughing were Tony Bradley, Mike Watkins, N Rowlings, P Meek, D Williams, D Bonning, A Davies, G Richards, C Bowen, P Bisco, V Hughes, P Brassett, K Williams, R Hiscocks and B Davies (in four classes). Champion ploughman was M Watkins, from Maltby, Yorkshire.
