CRICKET CLUB - This year the club will celebrate its diamond anniversary. Celebrations were to have taken place on May 20, but due to a combination of unfortunate factors they have been postponed until June 24.
Apologies go to all friends and supporters to whom this may cause inconvenience.
WHIST - Despite the inclement weather the whist drive held in the village hall on May 1 was well supported. MC Rick Harris was welcomed back after his recent illness and presented prizes to Beryl Lewis, Kath Jenkins, Rick Harris, Margaret Goode, Jim Price, Phil Farmer, Audrey Sutton, Diane Jenkins, Kath Evans and Frank Evans. The club meets again on Tuesday at 7.45pm.
CHURCH FLOWERS - In preparation for the jubilee celebrations Edna Hughes, who organises flower arranging, has expressed a wish that red, white and blue flowers should be used in the church on June 3. Anyone who has flowers which fall into this category and is willing to donate some can contact Edna on 01544 340268. She would also like to borrow any items relating to the 1953 coronation, to be displayed in the church. On that day there will be a special service at 11am to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. This will be followed, weather permitting, by a buffet lunch held out of doors.
Everyone is welcome.
