PARISH COUNCIL - A launch meeting to discuss the setting up of a steering committee to co-ordinate a parish (community led) plan will be held at Clehonger Village Hall on June 11 at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be served and Lynda Wilcox from Herefordshire Association of Local Councils (HALC) will be in attendance to guide the process and advise on how things may move forward.
There will be opportunities for all members of the community to give their ideas about what they would like to see developed, preserved or improved in the parish. This could cover a whole range of issues such as housing, transport, roads, services, the environment and leisure facilities.
FAMILY FUN - The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations are on June 5, from 3pm to 6pm in Clehonger Village Hall, and will take the form of a bring your own picnic. Activities include judging for a jubilee princess (ages six to 12), children’s fancy dress, children’s art competition to be completed in the village hall, and competitions for amateur craftwork and decorated cup cakes, both which must be staged by 3pm. Clehonger will be talking to the world by short wave radio, to find the greatest distance between operators, and has been honoured by being given special call sign GB0CLE for the occasion.
Youngsters will be given the opportunity to speak to other countries and see their voice pattern on an oscilloscope. Try your hand at handbell ringing with the Dilwyn Bell Ringers, and enjoy a singalong with Gervase and Chris Guy. There will be also be a raffle, tombola, lucky dip, and cake stalls, indoor and an outdoor treasure hunts and fun games on the sports field.
