JUBILEE - Gladestry will be marking the Queen’s jubilee with Colva, Newchurch and Michaelchurch-on-Arrow. Celebrations begin with a Diamond Jubilee songs of praise and thanksgiving service at St Mary’s Church at 6pm on Sunday, followed by refreshments.
On Monday, celebrations start at 3pm at Gladestry Village Hall and the adjoining field.
There will be a bouncy castle, face painting, arts and crafts, craft workshops, children’s sports and a teddy bears’ picnic. Several volunteer men will allow children to dress them as Her Majesty and judges will award prizes for the best dressed Queen. Local band Deep entertain and commemorative mugs will be presented to children of primary school age and under residing in the above parishes or attending Gladestry School or playgroup. At 7pm there will be a hog roast and ceilidh by Bandemonium. To round off the celebrations, a beacon will be lit just outside the village.
