KINGTON made a fine start to their first campaign in the South Wales Ladies' Hockey League Division 4 by winning 4-0 at Merthyr Tydfil.
The border club produced some neat passing in the opening exchanges and took the lead when Rachel Davies scored from a pass by Sarah Betterton.
Betterton added the second after the interval following some good midfield play and a cross by Frankie Bishop before Alex Watson, Sian Morgan and Catherine Jones created a second goal for player-of-the-match Davies.
The final goal came from a penalty corner when a strike by captain Jenny Layton was slotted past the Merthyr defence by Bev Hyde.
