HEREFORDSHIRE auctioneer Terry Court recently conducted an auction of ponies, real and in print, that raised more than £4,000 for the Noah's Ark appeal for the Children's Hospital in Wales.
The auction, arranged by Dr Glyn Jones, a supporter of the appeal, saw two limited edition prints by well-known artist Aneurin Jones go under the hammer alongside Welsh ponies and cobs.
A print of Welsh mountain ponies was bought for £2,200 by Kath and Martin Hall in memory of their son, Ian, who died earlier this year, while the second, of a Welsh Cob stallion, was bought by Peter Jones, of the Menai stud, for his wife and sons in memory of their eldest son, William, who died in 1995.
"It was a marvellous day with excellent prices offered for good quality stock and a marvellous effort by Dr Glyn Jones in raising money for the Noah's Ark appeal," said Mr Court. "I am pleased to say that as a result of us offering £1 from the sale of each catalogue, the total raised will be well over £4,000, a marvellous donation towards such an admirable cause, and we are only too glad to be associated with this appeal."
