UGANDA - In a workshop with Heather Smith, children looked at artefacts from Uganda including banana skin dolls, home made musical instruments and chickens made out of bags. They also made their own footballs out of recycle carrier bags. Money raised by Heather for doing the workshops goes to Hands up for Uganda, a charity for the village of Kisaabwa.
SONG - All the pupils at Gladestry Primary School have taken part in a singing project.
The children wrote a song called Every Child.
The music was written by Jim Elliot who is a local record producer who has written songs for Kylie Minogue, Olly Murs and Will Young.
Jim was helped by Rob Robertson, a parent and musician. Paul Whitby of Kurz Films filmed the children singing the song. The video can be found on YouTube and the school friends’ website and will be sent to local radio stations.
