ANDY Ferrell, Rob Elmes and John Snape all grabbed two goals each as a Hereford United legends team thrashed a fans' team 10-2 at Edgar Street this afternoon.
Ian Wright, Matt Clarke and Steve Guinan also got on the scoresheet for the legends, as did supporter Chris Oleksy, who showed a lot of enthusiasm after coming off the bench at the start of the second half to line up against his heroes.
Chris, known by his friends as 'Oxo', was also unlucky not to have got a second goal, but his effort was ruled offside.
A crowd of around 350 watched the game played in glorious sunshine, which followed Hereford's annual open day event.
The fans may have struggled to equip themselves against their superior opponents, but they never gave up and got the biggest cheers of the day came when Jack Tomlinson and Jamie Price scored.
Price lapped up the moment by performing an impressive back-flip following his goal.
"I usually do it when I scorea hat-trick, but I thought why not, it's Edgar Street," said Jamie.
"The banter between the players was really good and we were having a chat when we were playing.
"It was just amazing and I was just in awe of their movement."
The legends' team featured Tony James, who said that he was disappointed that the derby match between his Newport team and Hereford had been moved from Bank Holiday Monday to the Tuesday night on police advice.
"I think that's killed it really and it would have been a great atmosphere on the Bank Holiday," he said.
"It's a bit of an over-reaction from the police."
The Hereford Times spoke to a number of the legends and supporters this afternoon.
