IN BLOOM - The Britain in Bloom judges visited Eardisland last Thursday to judge the village’s entry and enjoyed the busy itinerary in warm sunshine. The Eardisland in Bloom committee would like to thank everyone in the village for their great efforts in making everything so perfect and for giving such a warm welcome to the judges on their return to the village hall. The results will be publicly announced in the White Swan on September 14 at 7.30pm with the whole village welcome to attend.
BOWLS - Eardisland Bowling Club enjoyed a thrilling narrow victory when Wellington visited the recreation ground on a sunny Sunday afternoon, with a three shot win, secured only on the last end.
BARBECUE - The annual church barbecue will take place at Hardwick House (directions signposted on the day) on Saturday from 6.30pm-10pm. Adults £12, under-16s £7, under-fives free, to include main course and pudding with vegetarian options. Licensed bar, grand draw, fireworks. Tickets, in aid of St Mary’s Church, are available from the village shop on 01544 388984, tea rooms on 388226, P and D Brown on 388389 or D Cope on 388317.
