A COLOURFUL convoy of pink cars is travelling across the UK to raise money for Hereford’s Little Princess Trust.
The John O’Groats to Lands End Pink Car Rally, which set off on Tuesday, will help the charity founded in memory of five-year-old Hannah Tarplee provide more real-hair wigs to children undergoing cancer treatment.
The rally will see pink vehicles, including a National Express coach, travel more than 800 miles over six days.
According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Ltd there were 7,792 pink cars on UK roads at the end of 2011 and anyone who owns a pink car is invited to get involved.
Those without can book a place on the pink coach that is due to join the convoy on Saturday and Sunday.
In the five years it has been going the pink car fund-raiser has helped raised tens of thousands for the charity set up by Hannah's parents Wendy and Simon Tarplee after their daugher’s death in 2005.
Mastermind of the Pink Car Rally and Little Princess Trust supporter Sali Gray, who drives a pink car herself, came up with the idea after noticing the amount of attention her vehicle got on the roads.
“The fifth annual Pink Car rally is set to be the best yet,”
said Sali.
“We are hoping that at the end of each day, lots of pink car owners in these areas will meet up with us. We really hope people in Hereford get involved.”
To book a place on the pink coach, priced £40 per person, £60 per couple or £20 for children under 15, call 01452 618899 or email sali@business-advancement.
