COUNCIL MEETING - Yvonne Tustain from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund reported to the meeting of Breinton Parish Council on the ‘park and share’ and the ‘park and ride’ schemes. These schemes are to help reduce congestion in Hereford, and cut costs for commuters. There are a number of businesses around Herefordshire that permit parking for these schemes, but Yvonne is looking to ensure that these spaces are fully utilised. gov.uk/parkandshare. Evidence from the Breinton Community-Led Plan suggests that once a cycleway is put along King’s Acre Road, these schemes will become even more popular. Councillors hope that Herefordshire Council will allocate more funds from the Sustainable Transport Fund to finance cycle ways around Hereford in general, and King’s Acre Road in particular.

Tony Geeson presented the draft report by the Painting Breinton Green group, which has been reviewing what actions can be taken to improve the sustainability and environment, as well as cut costs for Breinton residents.

The report contains many ideas from residents and it is likely it will be a great stepping stone for the Community Led Plan.

The draft report will be placed online at breintonparish.co.uk. Parish councillors extended their thanks to all those involved with the Painting Breinton Green group, but especially to Tony and Nichola Geeson, Brian Lunt and Anita Sancha.

The steering group for the Community-Led Plan is currently reviewing the data from the Planning 4 Real event held at the fete, and from the issues identified, will prepare a questionnaire that will be delivered to everyone in Breinton. If there are any other issues that are of concern to you, then please advise the clerk, through the website, or phone 01432 340129. The questionnaires will be delivered to households later in the autumn.

The next parish council meeting is on October 24 at 7pm in the village hall.
