COUNCIL - An election was held for one parish councillor on September 13. There were three candidates and a turnout of 23.1 per cent. Elected with 143 votes was Marianna Edwards. Emma Griffiths had 50 votes and Bill Box 23. The total cost of the election, which was requested by parishioners, is yet to be confirmed by Herefordshire Council , but is likely to be significant and will have to be a consideration when setting the precept. The parish council gave thanks to Tim Edwards, whose recent resignation after more than 30 years’ service to the council, created the vacancy. The next meeting is on Tuesday at 7.15pm in the parish hall.
FOOD FESTIVAL - On Saturday in the church, noon-3pm, find a range of local produce including sausages, cheeses, wines, ciders, jams, goats milk and chocolates, plus craft stalls. Tower tours are on offer for an aerial view of the countryside, plus a cake decorating competition and a children’s painting competition both with an Olympic theme.
Competition entries to be in the church by 10am. Refreshments and light lunches available.
Free entry.
