HERITAGE BUILDINGS - This Sunday is the last open day this year when the public can visit heritage buildings restored by the Village Alive Trust in the Llanvetherine area and the conserved St Cadoc’s Church at Llangattock Lingoed. There will be a rare chance to see the grade II* cruck beam barn at Whitecastle Vineyard, near Whitecastle, which is awaiting conservation work. Also open between 2pm and 5pm will be the restored listed barn at Great Trerhew Farm, Llanvetherine; the listed pigscotts at White Castle Farm, Whitecastle; the Cwm Farm Cider House, Llangattock Lingoed; and the Well House at New Inn Farm, Cross Ash. The buildings have undergone conservation work by the Village Alive Trust and retain many period features. The sites will be signposted off the B4521 Abergavenny to Skenfrith road.
Stout footwear is recommended and full details can be found at civictrustwales.org or villagealivetrust.org.uk. Members of the public are also invited to join The Village Alive Trust for its annual meeting at Llandewi Skirrid Hall, near Abergavenny, on November 8, at 7.30pm when guest speaker Frank Olding will give an introduction to the archaeology of the Black Mountains.
