HARVEST FESTIVAL AND SUPPER - The Stoke Lacy Harvest Festival will be celebrated tomorrow (Friday), starting with a service at 6.30pm followed by the harvest supper and auction at the village hall at 7.30pm.
Donations of produce can brought to the church this morning (Thursday), to the village hall between 2pm and 3pm tomorrow, or else after the service. Anyone who can’t get to the service is welcome to join the supper.
Doors will open at about 7.15pm. Tickets cost £4.50 and are available from Christine Walters on 01885 490870 or Kate Parker on 490231. They can also be bought on the door. Bring your own alcohol.
WI - Much Cowarne Women’s Institute will meet promptly at 7.30pm on October 12 in Stoke Lacy Village Hall. Becky Wall will give a talk entitled Wedding Co-ordinator and Plush Flush Toilets and the competition – for a tankard – will be for a jar of chutney. New members are always welcome.
COFFEE MORNING - On October 13, Village Voices will sponsor a coffee morning in Stoke Lacy Church from 10am to noon.
Coffee, cakes and conversation will be on offer, as well as the library at the rear of the church.
ROCK CHURCHES IN ETHIOPIA - On October 26 at 7pm in Stoke Lacy Church, Rev David McKeeman will give an illustrated talk on a journey he made to Ethiopia in 2011. The talk will include details of the churches hewn out of solid rock in the north of the country and will be followed by a short service.
Refreshments will then be served. Tickets cost £5 and can be booked on 01885 490705, 01432 820272 or 01432 820068.
