AN INDEPENDENT cinema in Hereford has suddenly closed its doors.

Owner Fiona Bain announced the closure of The Loft cinema in West Street in a heartfelt post on social media, expressing her devastation at having to shut down without any notice.

The Loft Cinema, which has been open for four and a half years, hosted not only regular film screenings but also various events such as music, Sunday roasts, and family showings.

It was also known for being child-friendly, making it a popular choice for families.

Fans of the cinema shared their sadness on social media, expressing their gratitude for the memories they had created at The Loft.

Many reminisced about the great times they had there and wished the team well for future endeavours.

Fiona Bain expressed her apologies to ticket holders and party bookings and thanked everyone for their support.

"It is with a very heavy heart I say this, but I'm afraid The Loft is no more. Without any notice we have been very suddenly closed and, while I have fought to continue, even to see out this month, this isn't an option," she said.

"We couldn't have better memories - we had the most wonderful regulars, supporters, sound crew, quizmaster, chef, and bar team.

"We are gutted to no longer be the home of Live @ The Loft, the Veteran's brunches, Livewire, HSFC and HCA's gigs, LBS shoots, Les Quizerables, and countless parties, family showings, Sunday lunches and evenings out.

"Thank you for all of the support over the last four and a half years, to this small team it really meant the world."
