A HEREFORD shop will be shutting its doors next month after a decade in the city.
St Michael’s Hospice’s home and living charity shop in Holmer Road will be closing on January 6 after announcing that the lease on the shop was coming to an end earlier this year.
Since opening in 2013, the Holmer Road Home and Living shop has been a key part of the Hospice’s retail portfolio, helping raise a significant amount of funds to enable St Michael’s to continue providing its palliative and end-of-life care across the community.

“To everyone who has visited us at Holmer Road, bought items, donated stock, or just popped in for a browse, we would like to say a huge thank you,” said Rachel Jones, the Hospice’s Income Generation, Marketing and Communications Director.
“This shop has been a success for two reasons; the support of the community, and the unwavering dedication of the staff and volunteers who have made the site such a welcoming place to many over the years.
“Despite the news, this is an exciting time for St Michael’s as we forge ahead with plans to open several new stores in 2024, with the largest premises at Whitestone Business Park due to open in the Spring of 2024. We look forward to welcoming our supporters to established and new shops over the coming months.”
The Holmer Road shop will continue to operate as normal up to the Christmas holidays, closing on Saturday December 23 and reopening on Wednesday December 27. After reopening the shop will be holding a closing sale with discounts across all departments up until it permanently shuts on January 6.
