A NEW restaurant has opened its doors in the centre of Hereford.
Bistro 61 in Commercial Street, near the Old House, is now open to serve locals a selection of Italian coffees and a varied menu of meals from across the world.
The restaurant opens from 8 am to 9 pm and offers a range of breakfast, lunch and desert dishes drawing primarily on Middle Eastern culinary traditions, with prices ranging from £3 at the cheapest, for a portion of chickpea soup, to £19.99 for a helping of lamb dolma.
Whilst the lunch menu consists entirely of food items from Arabic and Middle Mediterranean regions, their breakfast selection takes more of a Western inspiration, with a traditional full English breakfast and its vegetarian and vegan alternatives being offered alongside shakshuka and a full Turkish breakfast.

The exterior of the restaurant sports a large, black and blue sign displaying the words ‘Bistro 61’, ‘breakfast’, ‘lunch’ and ‘Italian coffee’, beneath which are a small selection of tables and chairs for outside dining and coffee-drinking.
The bistro’s wood-panelled interior is distinctly Middle Eastern, with traditional patterns and embroidered decorations displayed under the light of modern multi-colour LEDs.
With the price of coffee never exceeding £3.90, Bistro 61 will be contributing to the city’s rich coffee shop scene alongside the nearby Costa Coffee, Coffee #1, My Coffee Corner, Maxwells café and Eden House of coffee in High Street as well as the Moka Bar and No.10 which are all within about a minutes’ walk.
