A HISTORIC Hereford shop that has been in the city centre for 75 years is to close.
M. Black & Sons, a specialist in selling jeans, has been a permanent fixture in Widemarsh Street since 1949.
However, a note in its window says that, due to retirement, the shop will be closing at the end of 2025.
The family-run business was set up by Mark Black, who started selling clothes at the suggestion of his brother.
In 1949, he started his business in a private house before moving to three premises in Widemarsh Street, finishing up at the current shop.

Marketed as being 'Hereford's original jeans store, Black's sells a large range of men's and women's Levi's and Wranger jeans.
It also stocks T-shirts, polo shirts, shirts and accessories, such as wallets and belts. Mr Black died in 2017, aged 98.
The business was passed on to Mr Black's son, Rob. Speaking to the Hereford Times in 2017, Rob said that families who used to buy clothes from his father's door-to-door business still bought clothes from the shop.
