HAVING taken a recent caravan holiday in the south west, we returned to Herefordshire, passing through six different counties.
We soon realised that Herefordshire was the only county to be covered with thousands of non-repaired potholes, most of which have been in place for weeks and received no attention from Amey or Herefordshire Council.
In the other five counties it was a relief to be able to focus on the horizon and oncoming traffic, rather than having to constantly check the surface of the road immediately in front for potholes.
These councils have put road safety at the top of their list of priorities.
Will Amey and Herefordshire Council carry out a survey of all hazardous roads and make urgent repairs, before a tragedy occurs?
Their priorities are completely upside down. I feel most concerned for the emergency services, the elderly and inexperienced drivers who are all at greatest risk from these atrocious roads.
Council tax goes up again, but nobody is going to help us all to afford essential wheel, tyre and suspension repairs.
COUNCILLOR BENSON FERRARI, Independent Town Councillor, Leominster
