IN my Sunday morning constitutional I sadly see tourists and locals peering into the atavistically closed independent shops and Buttermarket of Hereford city.

But great joy to see the workers at the ‘old market’ site beavering away at the construction of this new shopping emporium.

Let’s hope the new tenants of this meretricious place will have the same fortitude as the busy builders to open their doors on a Sunday and show the old town how it’s done in this new century.
