HEREFORDSHIRE Council you are aware that we have a prestigious French restaurant here in our area because you granted the proprietors permission to build it, charged them a very handsome sum for the privilege of doing so and are now charging them exorbitant business rates.
Yet you are failing to maintain the two roads from Abbey Dore and Bacton that lead to Toi-Et-Moi.
These two roads have become cart tracks and are responsible for damage to at least three vehicles belonging to people who have visited the restaurant.
It employs local people, uses local produce and it brings people into the area where they spend their money. But for how much longer if these roads get any worse?
We’ve got Hay Festival in a few weeks. Herefordshire Council, how much repair work are you going to get done before then?
I damaged my vehicle at the beginning of November last year and I still haven’t received compensation. I was told last week that it would take another 90 days.
I had to pay my vehicle repairer at the end of November last year.
If I don’t pay my community charge on time I’ll get a summons and the threat of court action in a few days.
Herefordshire Council, why is there one rule for you and another for the rest of us?
Message to the good people of Herefordshire: adopt a culvert, a ditch, a drain or a gulley and look after it because your parish and county council couldn’t care less.
JACKIE GWILLIAM, South View, Abbey Dore.
