CONGRATULATIONS to the Hereford Times for bringing us yet another story of heroism from the emergency services.
The report (Hereford Times, May 3): Crews' two-mile trek to rescue mountain biker, was a story that highlighted the dedication to duty that the men and women of the ambulance service produce on our behalf.
Not only did the ambulance crew have to deal with difficult physical terrain, but it seems the Almighty decided to throw in pouring rain and darkness. This did not deter them, and they progressed to help the injured man. Bravo!
These dedicated professionals provide this service 24 hours every day of the year.
Thank goodness we have such devoted men and women.
The reassurance that such people are waiting in the wings to come to our aid should we be unfortunate enough to need their help is very comforting.
The Hereford Times should keep up the good work of highlighting the professionalism of our emergency services that are worth their weight in gold.
R D CHARLES, Hampton Dene Road, Hereford.
