I HAVE written in the past advocating resiting the May Fair to the King George V playing fields and was interested in your article, which also reported a statement from the chairman of the S Wales & NI Showmen's Guild, that a survey three years ago showed overwhelming support for the fair.....'.
Well, he would say that, wouldn't he? My recollection of the survey is a booth set up in High Town and only manned in the evening when the area was thronged with patrons of the fair. What sort of objective result was that?
I have never been against the fair but am against where it is held. I would certainly hear more noise from the fair if it were on the playing fields but I would be prepared to put up with it for the sake of sanity in the city.
